The General Assembly of the European Bars Federation (FBE) meeting in Barcelona in June 1st, 2019 expresses its support for the rule of law and freedom of speech in Turkey.

We demand the full protection of independence of the legal and journalism professions in Turkey.

We call for an end to the stigmatisation of lawyers and journalists and the detention of those who fight for freedom, fair legal proceedings, universal human rights, freedom of speech and expression.
