As representatives of the Bar, we cannot bring these days focused on universal access to Justice to a close without reflecting on something which certain countries and European institutions would prefer to forget: the influx of immigrants, heading to Europe to satisfy their desires for freedom and peace, far from wars and persecution, so as to reclaim the most basic rights which are the foundation of human dignity.
Let us ask European leaders and institutions to implement strong and decisive measures and take responsibility for the problems caused by the arrival of these immigrants on the island of Lampedusa and in other parts of Europe, enabling them to benefit from their sacred right to life and recover their human dignity.
