The FBE condemns the imprisonment of lawyer Sonia Dahmani in Tunisia.

She was sentenced on appeal to 8 months in prison for statements deemed critical of President Kaïs Saïed. During a television programme in May, she made sarcastic remarks about the situation in the country, which led to her arrest live on France 24. Her lawyers denounced ‘judicial harassment’ 

The judicial community denounces a fundamental breach of the principle of a fair trial.  The FBE is concerned for Ms Dahmani, and calls for her release.
