THE TEAM FROM THE PORTUGUESE BAR ASSOCIATION WINS THE 2023 FBE INTERNATIONAL CONTRACT COMPETITION

Lisbon was the venue from 30 June to 2 July for the 2023 FBE International Contract Competition 2023. This European competition for young lawyers was jointly organized by the Training Committee, led by ICAM, and the Arbitration Committee of the European Bars Federation (FBE). This edition was also supported by the Portuguese Bar Association, the Palermo Bar Association and the Bilbao Bar Association.

The Portuguese Bar Association hosted the competition, which was attended by 20 participants from bar associations in countries such as Portugal, Italy, Poland, Romania, Ireland and Spain.

ICAM was represented by a delegation composed of lawyers Sandra Montaner and M.ª del Carmen Espejel.

The development of the competition was based on two sports cases in which the main objective was to reach an agreement between the parties. The Portuguese delegation made up of lawyers Carmo Ayres Pereira and Joana Domingues were this year’s winners.

The celebration of the competition also allowed to strengthen the relationship with the Ordem dos Advogados de Portugal, chaired by the Bastonária Fernanda de Almeida Pinheiro, who took office in January 2023.
